Call for Artists–Friends of the Fells Art Show!

 

The Friends of the Middlesex Fells Reservation is seeking artists of various media for  its 6th annual Celebration of the Middlesex Fells exhibit for the month of September, 2016 at the Beebe Estate  Gallery,  235 West Foster in Melrose. Opening reception is September 2nd from 7-9 pm. Gallery hours are Saturdays from 11-3.  The theme is Nature: An Appreciation.  We are seeking art that vividly demonstrates why Nature needs to be appreciated and protected; size limit for hanging art is 20” x 20”.  There is a $20 donation requested to the Friends to exhibit. Artwork can be, but is not required to be, available for sale.

This year’s Fells Art Month will feature a series of short films entitled Standing on Sacred Ground. These films depict the struggle of indigenous people standing up for their traditional sacred lands in defense of cultural survival, human rights and the environment. Please submit at most 3 samples to Mike Oliver at friends@fells.org by July 15, 2016. For more information, call 781-662-2340.

Vice-Chair and Volunteer Coordinator Lindsay Beal has been a Friends of the Fells volunteer since 2010 and joined the board in 2015.Her outdoor education began while growing up in Western MA in the foothills of the Berkshires, developed while leading hikes and backpacking trips around New England for children and teens, and continues today at the Friends of the Fells and beyond.
